How to capture an enemy field

The first step to capture an enemy airbase is to close it. To do so, all structures in it must be destroyed. This includes all acks (12.7mm, 20mm, 40mm and 88mm anti-aircraft artillery), hangars, warehouses, ammo depots, fuel tanks, radars, radio huts and radio masts. There is no need to destroy the tower (point of view). Unlike many people say, there is no problem in destroying this last structure. Look at the tower as if it was a hangar wall - simply a detail. It is said that capturing a field is made impossible if the tower is destroyed, but that's a problem of other servers, not in FH. For further information on how long structures remain destroyed and how they rebuild, check the Field damage section.

The second step is to drop paratroopers at the field. This is done with the Ju-52 (axis) and the Li-2 (allies). Once the troop transport is at the closed field, it may choose to drop the troops from least at 500 ft or to release them landed and at a full stop by the tower. This second method requires more experience, but sometimes is quicker. Once enough troops have entered the tower the field is captured (The amount of needed Paratroopers depend on the Parameter FLDCAPF).

Troops may not capture a field because of one of these reasons:

  • They were killed by enemy aircraft or acks
  • They were dropped from under 500 ft (and thus killed)
  • They were released on the ground but without the transport being completely stopped
  • They were dropped / released too far from the target
  • The field reopened before enough of them reached the tower

How to recapture an enemy field

If a field was closed and captured by the other team and you plan to recapture it, you must wait until it reopens (when one or more structures rebuild) and then reclose it, only then sending the paratroopers normally. To see if a field can be recaptured (or captured), use the ".field" command. It is capturable if the variable "enable_cap" is 1.

Effects of strategical targets on field captures

Currently, destroying strategic targets (Cities, Ports, Factories, Bridges, Refineries, Convoy Fleets, etc.) increase the time it takes for structures to rebuild.
